Dunno about the rest of europe but there are no elections in Greece and probably there is a similar pattern in Southeastern Europe due to scandals untold and same culture.

 There are factions which break up as oligarchy in times of "crisis" to reorganize power and the market and so called ethics or plain way of life sell a good profile to Brussels and to whoever is their true master Foreign or Domestic.

That is an insult itself against the system of Democracy and the official fact Greece is the place Democracy was first applied and a further insult against Anglosaxon Democracies as developed and applied.
